When: 16th September – 30th October 2016
Northern Print established the International Print Biennale in 2009 and in 2014 the third edition of the Biennale’s Print Awards welcomed submissions from over 740 artists from 42 different countries. The exhibitions across 25 venues for International Print Biennale 2014 attracted over 130,000 visitors.
The fourth International Print Biennale will take place across the North East of England from 16 September to 30 October 2016. The event celebrates the role of print in contemporary artists’ practice and is the only event of its kind in the UK.
The 2016 International Print Awards are the centrepiece of the International Print Biennale. The Awards are open to all British and international artists’ interpretation of contemporary print processes including 2D, 3D, video, installation and site-specific work.
In addition, there are exhibitions, events and workshops taking place across the region (including venues in Newcastle, Sunderland, Northumberland and the border in Berwick) that celebrate the diversity of contemporary printmaking and honour its long heritage. Expect to see prints both big and small, and be prepared to think again about the format!
