Friday 29th April – Sunday 1st May 2016
For more information, see the Gateshead Beer Festival website.
The Gateshead Beer and Music Festival are based at Gateshead Rugby club in Low Fell and the event is run by a hardy bunch of volunteers with all funds raised going to the development of Rugby. What initially started off as a small festival in 2010 has quickly grown into one of the largest in the North!
While the festival reaches out to many far afield, they are very much about building a festival that brings together the local communities, particularly those in the Tyneside area and the wider North East. They also support local businesses by sourcing local produce, as well as involving local charities in the planning and delivery of the event.
This year’s musical headliners are The mOObs, Bessie and the Zinc Buckets and the return of the sensational funk and soul group Smoove & Turrell.
But what would a Beer Festival be without the beer? The festival has a great selection of ales and ciders that are sourced countrywide but also always ensure that they provide a great springboard for local brewers to showcase their Ales. Except a wide variety of brews to suit everyone’s taste and please everyone from the casual ale drinker to the hardcore beer enthusiast.
In addition to the ciders, ales and Cava bar the festival now also boasts the Jam Jar Gin bar, perfect for those looking for something a little bit different!
