Festival of 50s at Beamish

Rock and roll along to Beamish Museum on 27 and 28 June for a fantastic weekend of all things 50s – a Festival of fashion, food and family fun.

Come along in your 50s finery and enter the Mr and Mrs Beamish competition (and for youngsters the Master & Miss Beamish competition too).  Enjoy live music from the era by local bands, a catwalk show with fashion students and try tasty treats from our 1950s kitchen.  Fantastic 50s items from our collections will be on view for you to explore; share your stories about them and guess the original price.  You can even treat yourself to a 1950s hairdo!

Outside, there’s Wanda, the beautiful 50s touring caravan, alongside cars and motorcycles of the times, a fairground attraction and outdoor games.  Meet Durham Amateur Football Trust and test your footballing skills or shake in your shoes in the recreation of a 1950s police room set up by the North East Police History Society.
