Join Belsay Hall for a series of festive weekends! From Victorian festivities to theatre and carol singing, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
Sat 05 & Sun 06 Dec 2015 – Festive Theatre: A Christmas Carol
Join us in the library for a festive production of this Dickens’ Classic. Eebernezer Scrooge meets the unusual Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come, but will he repent in time for Christmas, or is Scrooge doomed to a life of misery?
Performances will run throughout the day at 11.30am, 1.00pm and 2.30pm and be sure to dress warmly as the hall is unheated.
Sat 12 & Sun 13 Dec 2015 – Victorian Christmas
Christmas at Belsay has always been a special occasion; the Middleton family first moved into the then brand new Hall here at Belsay on Christmas Day in 1817. Learn about Prince Albert’s influence in popularising the Christmas tree, and discover the origins of crackers, mince pies, carol singing and pantomimes. You can also shop for unique Christmas gifts and sample English Heritage’s own range of liqueurs and seasonal treats.
Sat 19 & Sun 20 Dec 2015 – Christmas Choirs
The festive season is such a special time at Belsay as it was on Christmas Day 1817 that the Middleton Family moved into their grand new hall. Enjoy some seasonal festive music and carol singing in the Library.
Saturday – Caedmon Choir, performances at 1pm and 3pm.
Sunday – Ayres and Gracenotes Choir, performances at 1pm and 3pm.
